About the event
Have you ever wanted to walk in the footsteps of Issaquah's earliest miners? On the Issaquah History Museums’ Grand Ridge Mining History Field Trip, you will have the chance to explore the daily commute and work area of people who worked in Issaquah's longest-lasting coal mining operation. This walking field trip will begin just east of downtown Issaquah and participants will hike to the Grand Ridge mine site through an historically significant section of Grand Ridge Park, just north of I-90.
Meet at the East Sunset Way trailhead east of downtown and just off I-90 exit no. 18 in Issaquah for a moderately easy 3-mile roundtrip hike on well-developed gravel and dirt trails. You will be guided by a local historian and expert on the Grand Ridge mine. The walk will be held rain or shine. Bring water and snacks, wear appropriate hiking shoes, and dress for the weather.
This event is limited to 20 individuals. All participants must pre-register and purchase an individual ticket in advance. Unregistered guests cannot be accommodated. Please, no children 10 and under (safety reasons); children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Although we love pets, please leave your furry friends at home.
